SNOW DAYS....YEAH!!!
Late last night, after falling asleep on the couch watching Grey's, I woke up to our loud dryer buzzer going off. So I got up to go fold Corey's work clothes and hang up his work coats. Poor thing had worked out in the rain all day long and he also had fallen alseep on the couch from being so cold, wet and tired. After a few minutes, he came in the laundry room to tell me he was going on to bed. He was carrying a big load of laundry to the bedroom for me to put away and all of a sudden he dropped everything he was holding. He froze and screamed, "Elisabeth, come look at the snow". He's such a kid at heart, really we both are! We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw how hard it was snowing and how big the flakes were.
I just knew how excited Madison would be when she woke up and saw it. She's like her Mommy, she LOVES the snow! Some of you have heard our story of the trick to get it to snow, but it you haven't I'll tell you. First Madison and I put our P.J.'s on inside out, then we each flush two ice cubes down the toliet, and last we each put a spoon under our pillows. This is a tale that Nana taught us and it's worked several times. Well last night I told Madison we maybe should try our trick. After bath time we got busy practicing gymnastics and then it was time to read. When I was telling her good night, she said "Mommy, we for got the trick tonight but we'll do it next time". Well, so much for our trick, the big man upstairs had a trick of his own! Madison woke up at 6:14AM and usually I'm trying to pull her out of bed any other day at 7:00AM. She somehow seems to know when there is no school because she wakes up super early! At that time there was a 2 hour delay but she was still super excited! Then we soon found out that school had been canceled. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! We were both excited because it was going to be a Mommy and Maddie day!
Soon after breakfast we got our clothes on and headed out side...what Madison called "A snow journey".
She played and was amazed at how much snow we got. Which really we just got a dusting but to her that's a lot of snow! I remember the days, as a child, we'd get out the yard stick to measure the snow in our backyard. Now that was fun times in the snow!
She even found a mid-morning snack...Snow and Ice.
After being outside for so long, we decided to come inside to the nice warm air.
Of course we had to have some yummy hot cocoa with tiny marshmallows!
It wouldn't be a snow day without some!
